Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Operating Room is primarily responsible for applying the nursing process to the care of veteran patients undergoing surgical procedures. This role includes ensuring appropriate documentation reflects assessments of patient needs, interdisciplinary treatment plans, clinical interventions, and evaluations of patients' responses to treatments. Additionally, the RN will assign and evaluate the work of non-nursing direct care providers assigned to the operating room.

Responsibilities

• Apply the nursing process to patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures.
• Document assessments, treatment plans, clinical interventions, and evaluations accurately.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Assign tasks and evaluate the performance of non-nursing direct care providers in the operating room.

Required Experience

• Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities to formulate effective nursing care plans.
• Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.
• Effective communication skills with patients, families, and hospital personnel.

Certifications/Licensure

• Required: BLS - AHA
• Required: NJ State Professional Registered Nurse license or multi-state compact license
• Preferred: ACLS - AHA
• Preferred: PALS
