Job Description

As a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room, you will play a critical role in delivering patient care throughout the surgical process. This includes a comprehensive understanding of the surgical conditions, procedures, and anesthesia types you will encounter, allowing you to provide individualized care and support to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough assessments of patients utilizing your knowledge of growth and development across all age groups.
• Demonstrate competent clinical skills in providing direct patient care and support to the surgical team.
• Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with guidelines, including the nursing process and patient education.
• Exhibit professionalism through adherence to policies and procedures and actively seek opportunities for clinical and professional growth.
• Ensure patient satisfaction by engaging positively with patients, families, and colleagues while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
• Follow safety protocols, including utilization of National Patient Safety Goals and proper identification of patients.
• Individualize patient care according to the specific surgical procedures and assess patient reactions and understanding of instructions.
• Contribute to the perioperative team by prioritizing patient care based on individual needs and changes in condition.
• Assess patient understanding and involve patients and family members in pre-operative and post-operative education.
• Support timely completion of patient testing and evaluate Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) orders for appropriateness.

Required Experience

• At least 1 year of experience in a nursing role.

Certifications/Licensure

• BLS certification is required.
• Current RN license is required.
• CNOR certification is preferred.
