This position requires 3x12-hour night shifts, with a starting time of 19:00 and ending at 07:00.

Job Description

The Medical Surgical/Telemetry RN will provide comprehensive care to patients with cardiac, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, infectious diseases, and unmanaged diabetes. The unit includes robust interdisciplinary support, ensuring patients receive quality care efficiently. The RN is responsible for patient assessments, medication administration, and evaluating patient responses to interventions while utilizing the Epic electronic medical record system for documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for a patient ratio of 6-7 patients on nights, stretching to 8-10 during staff shortages.
• Conduct assessments and interpret any dysrhythmias in collaboration with the Rapid Response Teams.
• Administer medications and manage IV lines and oxygen therapy, including nasal cannulas and face masks.
• Document patient care and activities through the Epic system.
• Float between units such as medical-surgical, telemetry, and stable ICU patients as needed.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of recent RN experience in a similar setting.
• Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
• Experience in utilizing Rapid Response Teams.

Certifications/Licensure

• Current New York State RN license required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
• NIH Stroke Scale certification is preferred.
