Certified Surgical Tech with Cardiac experience

ARMStaffing is looking for a Surgical Technologist, Cardiac OR (36 or 48 hours per week) in Rochester, New York.

Schedule includes DEN rotation, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed by the unit.

Job Description

The Cardiac OR team cares for a diverse patient population including those undergoing CABG, TAVI, heart failure interventions such as VADs, ECMO, artificial hearts, and heart transplants. The Surgical Technologist will prepare instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures while assisting the surgical team in a scrub role. Key responsibilities include maintaining sterile technique, ensuring safe handling of sharps, and complying with surgical counts as per hospital policy. This role also involves demonstrating proper handling of solutions and pharmacologic agents under the direction of a registered nurse.

Responsibilities

• Prepare instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures.
• Assist the surgical team in scrub position during operations.
• Ensure the proper care and handling of surgical instruments.
• Facilitate room turnover between surgical cases.
• Maintain sterile technique and perform surgical counts according to policy.
• Handle solutions and pharmacologic agents as directed by nursing staff.

Required Experience

• Two (2) years of recent experience in a cardiac operating room.
• At least two (2) years of experience as a Surgical Technologist in a healthcare facility within the last four years prior to January 2015.

Certifications/Licensure

• NBSTSA Certification or equivalent experience as a Surgical Technologist.
• BLS Certification from the American Heart Association.
• New York State Surgical Tech License (if applicable).
