Job Description
Join our team as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at the Owen Heart Center. Our unit is equipped with 40 beds and specializes in caring for patients with conditions such as congestive heart failure (CHF), myocardial infarction (MI), chest pain (CP), arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, valvular diseases, endocarditis, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), and patients who have undergone cardiac catheterization, stenting, pacemaker/ICD placement, or ablation.
Our team utilizes advanced equipment, including Zoll monitors, Baxter pumps, and bladder scanners, while efficiently documenting patient information through the Cerner EMR system.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess patient conditions, providing high-quality nursing care.
- Administer medications, including titratable cardiac IV medications such as nitroglycerine and Cardizem.
- Perform bedside cardioversion as necessary.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to formulate patient care plans.
- Assist in patient education and discharge planning.
- Maintain a safe and effective environment following hospital policies and protocols.
Required Experience
- Stepdown or progressive care experience.
- Telemetry experience.
- Experience with cardiac IV medication management.
Certifications/Licensure
- Current BLS certification.
- Current ACLS certification.
