Job Description

The Surgical Technologist plays a vital role in the operating room by assisting the surgical team with a variety of tasks. This position involves preparing the operating room, handling instruments, and ensuring a sterile environment throughout surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room by assembling both sterile and non-sterile equipment, including surgical instruments and sterile drapes.
• Assist in preparing patients for surgery, ensuring aseptic incision sites and transporting them to the operating room.
• Pass instruments and sterile supplies to surgeons and surgical assistants during procedures.
• Maintain a clean and safe operating environment by adhering to safety protocols and ensuring aseptic techniques.
• Assist in specimen care and apply dressings after surgical procedures.
• Help restock and clean the operating room for subsequent procedures.

Required Experience

A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist is required.

Certifications/Licensure

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery-Certified (TSC) preferred.
• Must comply with PA Act 31, 33, 34, and 73.
