Job Description

Pagosa Springs Medical Center is seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive care to patients in the Med Surg Unit. The RN is responsible for assessing and prioritizing patient care, administering nursing interventions, monitoring patient conditions, documenting changes, educating patients and families, and collaborating with healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care and prevent readmissions.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care within the RN scope of practice per physician/provider orders.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop care plans based on evaluations.
• Monitor patients for changes in condition and report abnormal findings to the provider.
• Administer medications, IV therapy, oxygen therapy, and blood products as needed.
• Document care in the electronic health record using Cerner accurately.
• Perform age-specific nursing care and provide patient and family education.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes.
• Follow infection prevention practices and ensure patient confidentiality.
• Mentor other nursing staff and support continuous learning in the unit.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of Med Surg or Emergency Room experience required.
• Previous traveler experience required.
• Cerner EHR/EMR experience required.

Certifications/Licensure

• Graduate of an accredited RN program required.
• Current Colorado or Compact RN license.
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
• Basic computer skills and electronic health record experience required.
