Day shift, 3x12 hour shifts from 07:00 to 19:00.

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides intensive respiratory care and patient transport as prescribed, while evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans. The therapist will explain procedures and equipment to patients, providing education upon discharge. Key responsibilities include conducting physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory and aerosol devices, performing chest physiotherapy, suctioning, monitoring oximetry and capnography, and assisting with procedures such as bronchoscopy and chest tube placements.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patient respiratory status and develop treatment plans.
• Carry out routine treatments using ventilatory equipment, oxygen, and nebulizers.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods.
• Conduct oximetry and capnography monitoring.
• Review chest x-rays and perform pulmonary function studies.
• Assistance with bronchoscopy, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care.
• Maintain and monitor mechanical ventilation and ventilatory equipment.
• Document treatments and patient responses accurately.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare providers about patient care.

Required Experience

• Current Respiratory Therapist license in the state of Texas.
• Previous experience in a hospital or acute care setting preferred.

Certifications/Licensure

• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential preferred.
