Per Diem - Night Shift, 3 shifts of 12 hours each.

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care through intensive respiratory care and patient transport as prescribed, within the scope of their professional license and with minimal supervision. The therapist evaluates patients and recommends appropriate treatment plans, explains treatment procedures and equipment to patients, and provides necessary education upon discharge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory, oxygen, aerosol, and nebulizer devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy to promote secretion clearance and patient suctioning using oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal methods.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography as per policy, and review chest X-rays for evaluation needs.
• Perform 12-Lead EKG and basic arrhythmia recognition.
• Assist in pulmonary function studies and respiratory procedures, including bronchoscopy and tracheostomy care.
• Perform arterial punctures and determine ventilation efficiency; monitor and report test results.
• Engage in cardiopulmonary resuscitation following BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Manage mechanical ventilation set-up, maintenance, and monitoring.
• Communicate with healthcare providers about therapy efficiency and provide hand-off information during shift changes.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including respiratory therapy records and patient response to treatments.

Required Experience

Experience in respiratory care with the ability to operate mechanical ventilation devices and perform related procedures is essential.

Certifications/Licensure

Current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license is required.
