Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by assuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees. Adhering to the Select Medical Way and Core Values, the RN focuses on patient and employee safety, effective teamwork, and achieving quality outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Perform nursing assessment on all patients within 8 hours of admission to develop an individualized care plan.
- Identify teaching needs related to the diagnosis during the admission assessment.
- Provide timely patient information for Initial Team Conferences and weekly Re-evaluation Team Conferences.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all assessments, interventions, and patient responses in medical records.
- Participate in the patient rehabilitation program, focusing on education for patients and families.
- Initiate discharge planning on admission and educate patients in anticipation of discharge.
- Communicate relevant changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care.
- Provide direction and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel.
- Contribute positively to unit functioning and team building activities.
- Maintain communication regarding service needs such as supplies and clinical training.
- Assume charge responsibility as needed after orientation.
- Pursue professional development through continuing education and self-study.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Current RN license.
- BLS Certification required prior to the first shift.
- ACLS certification required prior to the first shift (CIRH only).
- Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience.
