Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality care by ensuring adherence to the nursing care plan. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants, while also mentoring orientees. This position emphasizes patient and employee safety as a priority, enabling effective and high-quality care delivery.
Responsibilities
- Perform a nursing assessment on all patients within 8 hours of admission to formulate an individualized plan of care.
- Identify teaching needs and goals by collaborating with patients, families, and the Interdisciplinary team.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely in the medical record.
- Participate in the patient rehabilitation program, focusing on effective patient care through the nursing process.
- Initiate discharge planning on admission and provide patient education in anticipation of discharge.
- Communicate pertinent patient information among care providers to ensure continuity and safety in care.
- Provide direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel, delegating tasks appropriately.
- Contribute positively to unit morale and function through team-building activities and calm direction.
- Maintain effective communication with management regarding clinical needs and resources.
- Assume charge responsibilities as required after the orientation period.
- Actively pursue professional development through continuing education and self-study.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS Certification required prior to the first shift.
- ACLS Certification required prior to the first shift (specific to certain locations).
- Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience is required.
