This position requires a night shift from 19:00 to 07:00.
Job Description
The Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery performs a variety of essential functions, including administering medications, collecting specimens, and providing clinical treatments as part of the plan of care. The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, while also monitoring and communicating patient conditions to the care team, physicians, patients, and their families.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and address various support needs.
- Evaluate learning needs for patients and families, providing appropriate education based on age, culture, and condition.
- Advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
- Circulate during Cesarean sections and assist in deliveries, collaborating with physicians as needed.
- Attend to neonates immediately post-delivery and assess their conditions comprehensively.
- Participate in required certification classes such as fetal monitoring and neonatal resuscitation when offered.
- Identify and communicate essential information to physicians and patients effectively.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Must possess ACLS, BLS, NRP, STABLE, and AWHONN certifications; copies must be provided.
- Valid RN license (WY RN or RN compact) required; must be attached to resume.
- Minimum of 2 years recent experience in RN Level 1 Nursery, Postpartum, OB/GYN, and Labor/Delivery.
- Experience includes OB/GYN patient care, antepartum care, triage, labor and delivery care, and postpartum care.
- Candidates may be required to float to other units as necessary.
