Job Description
The Registered Nurse in OB/GYN and Labor & Delivery performs various interventions as part of the patient care plan, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, as well as monitoring, recording, and communicating patient conditions with the care team, physicians, patients, and families. The nurse assists patients with daily living activities and collaborates across disciplines to ensure comprehensive care, including discharge, referral, and spiritual needs. Additionally, the nurse provides education to patients and their families tailored to their specific circumstances.
Responsibilities
- Perform medication administration and clinical treatments.
- Assess and evaluate patient care needs, implementing appropriate interventions.
- Communicate patient conditions effectively with care teams and families.
- Assist patients in activities of daily living, including personal hygiene and nutrition.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for coordinated patient care.
- Attend and support during C-sections and deliveries as needed.
- Monitor and assess neonates post-delivery and follow recovery protocols for surgical patients.
- Regularly update skills through certifications such as BLS, ACLS, NRP, and STABLE.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Must hold a valid RN license from Wyoming or a compact state.
- Minimum of 2 years recent experience in Level 1 Nursery, Postpartum, OB/GYN, and Labor & Delivery.
- ACLS, BLS, NRP, STABLE, and AWHONN certifications are required.
- Experience caring for OB/GYN patients is necessary.
- Willingness to float to other units as needed.
