Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery
Job Description
The Registered Nurse in Labor & Delivery performs plan of care interventions which include medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments, while ensuring comprehensive medical care. The nurse appropriately assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care, monitoring and recording patient conditions to communicate effectively with the healthcare team, physicians, patients, and families.
This role involves assisting patients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, nutrition, and ambulation. Additionally, the nurse collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, and addressing spiritual and psychosocial support needs. The nurse also evaluates and addresses learning needs for patients and their families, providing education suited to their age, culture, and conditions, while acting as an advocate for their physical and emotional well-being.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications and perform specimen collections.
- Provide direct nursing care during childbirth, including circulating during C-sections and assisting in deliveries.
- Assess and evaluate newborns post-delivery, ensuring adherence to recovery and care protocols for surgical patients.
- Attend required training and certification classes, including fetal monitoring, NRP, and STABLE certification.
- Communicate critical information to healthcare teams, patients, and families effectively.
- Assist in coordinating comprehensive patient care across multiple disciplines.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Current RN license in WY or a multi-state RN license.
- Must hold certifications in ACLS, BLS, NRP, STABLE, and AWHONN.
- At least 2 years of recent nursing experience in Level 1 Nursery, Postpartum, OB/GYN, and Labor & Delivery.
- Experience in taking care of OB/GYN patients, including post-operative hysterectomies and antepartum care.
- Certifications must be attached to the application submissions.
Schedule
This position operates on a night shift from 19:00 to 07:00.
Assignment Duration
This is a 13-week contract position.
