Registered Nurse - Cardiac Step-Down Unit

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Night shift, working 36 hours per week from 7 PM to 7:30 AM, typically every 3rd weekend and 1 holiday per contract. Flexibility may be required based on staffing needs.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the cardiac step-down unit. The RN must be adept at handling cardiac drips, heart catheter recovery, and post-operative care for open-heart surgery patients.

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to cardiac step-down patients, including post-op open-heart and cardiac/med-surg patients.
• Administer medications and manage cardiac drips per protocol.
• Monitor patient vitals and respond to patient needs efficiently.
• Float to other units during low patient volumes, if needed.
• Care for ventilated patients on rare occasions, depending on patient requirements and staffing levels.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in cardiac step-down nursing.
• Experience with heart catheter recovery and management of cardiac drips.
• Competence in caring for post-op open-heart patients.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory.
• Experience with Epic EMR is required.
