Registered Nurse - Post-Operative Open Heart Care

Job Description

This position requires a Registered Nurse to provide exceptional care for patients in a post-operative open heart setting, ensuring adherence to the health system's mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures. The RN will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care using age-specific criteria. Responsibilities will include clinical assessments, direct patient care, and teaching non-RN staff.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Provide pre- and post-procedure care for patients with radial and femoral access.
• Manage chest tubes and other drains, including removal and troubleshooting.
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythm strips, responding to changes in cardiac rhythms.
• Assist with the management of temporary pacers and non-invasive ventilation devices.
• Float to all units within skill level as required.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 2+ years of experience in nursing is required.
• Post-operative open heart care experience is essential.
• Critical care experience is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring is required.
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Active American Heart Association ACLS certification.
• Current Ohio RN license or Compact RN license is required.

Schedule

This is a 12-hour day shift position with a 36-hour guarantee.
