X-Ray Technologist

Schedule

This position requires weekend shifts: Friday from 10:30 AM to Midnight, Saturday from 8:00 AM to Midnight, and Sunday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. On-call duties include 2-3 call shifts per month, with the ability to report within 30 minutes for on-call shifts.

Job Description

The X-Ray Technologist is responsible for performing radiographic imaging procedures to provide diagnostic information for physicians. This role includes verifying patient identity, explaining procedures to patients, and ensuring the safety and accuracy of radiologic equipment.

Responsibilities

• Verify patients' identity and review physician orders before procedures.
• Utilize x-ray equipment to capture high-quality diagnostic images.
• Explain procedures to patients and address their inquiries.
• Position patients appropriately, including assisting those with limited mobility.
• Maintain safety protocols by keeping patient doses as low as possible.
• Observe and document each patient's status, ensuring age-specific needs are met.
• Notify management of any equipment malfunctions or damages.
• Utilize electronic patient information systems for accurate record keeping.
• Maintain proper identification for images and ensure they are sent to the PACS system correctly.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Completion of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
• Current certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• New York State license or ability to obtain one prior to starting.
• A minimum of two years of experience as an X-Ray Technologist.
• Experience in a Level 1 trauma center.
• Ability to operate a c-arm/o-arm with recent OR experience.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
