X-Ray Technologist - On Call Position

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Monday to Thursday: 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM, Friday: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM, with on-call shifts requiring the ability to report within 30 minutes as needed.

Job Description

The X-Ray Technologist is responsible for performing imaging procedures to produce high-quality diagnostic images. This role involves verifying patient identities, adhering to physician orders, and ensuring patient safety during procedures.

Responsibilities

• Verify patients' identity and review physician orders before initiating x-ray procedures.
• Utilize x-ray equipment to produce images of patients’ bones, tissues, and organs.
• Explain x-ray procedures to patients and address any questions.
• Properly position patients, which may include assisting those with limited mobility.
• Maintain patient safety by managing radiation exposure and ensuring equipment is used correctly.
• Produce high-quality diagnostic images for radiologist interpretation.
• Report any equipment malfunctions promptly.
• Use electronic patient information systems for record-keeping and imaging procedures.
• Follow dual patient identifier protocols and maintain accurate patient records.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
• Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• New York State (NYS) licensure or ability to obtain prior to starting.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as an X-Ray Technologist.
• Experience in a Level 1 trauma center.
• Recent OR experience with c-arm/o-arm within the past 8 months.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Ability to lift patients and stand for extended periods.
