Registered Nurse (RN) - Surgical Services

Primary location: PMC, with potential floating to the Main campus as needed.

Job Description

The competent Registered Nurse (RN) provides independent nursing care in a surgical setting, demonstrating awareness of all relevant aspects of patient situations. The RN will deliver both routine and complex care, supporting patients in meeting long-range health goals while managing contingencies in clinical nursing. Responsibilities include making appropriate assignments and delegating tasks to other care providers as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process for patient assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administer medications and treatments while monitoring for side-effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient histories, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license.
• BLS Certification required via AHA.
• ACLS Certification required via AHA.
• 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred.
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
