Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) ensures the delivery of quality care by following the nursing care plan. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants, while also mentoring orientees. A commitment to safety for patients and employees is paramount. The role involves clinical assessment, patient education, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.

Responsibilities

• Conduct nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission.
• Identify teaching needs and goals during patient admission and throughout care.
• Provide timely updates on patient information during team conferences.
• Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the medical record.
• Participate in the patient rehabilitation program, prioritizing education based on identified healthcare needs.
• Initiate discharge planning on the day of patient admission.
• Communicate pertinent patient status changes to ensure continuity of care.
• Provide guidance and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel, delegating tasks appropriately.
• Maintain personal and environmental safety according to hospital policies.
• Contribute to a positive unit environment by providing calm direction to staff and patients.
• Assume charge responsibility as requested after orientation.
• Engage in professional development through continuing education and self-study.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS certification required prior to the first shift.
• ACLS certification required (CIRH only) prior to the first shift.
• Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience.
• ICU experience and appropriate skills for LTACH.
