Medical Surgical Oncology Registered Nurse

Job Description

This is a 13-week contract position for a Medical Surgical Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) working nights. The primary focus will be caring for medical-surgical patients with a history of oncology. The role involves administering chemotherapy and biotherapy, as well as managing general medical-surgical diagnoses.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a medical surgical unit with oncology patients.
• Administer chemotherapy and biotherapy through IV, PO, or injection.
• Perform wound care and manage surgical drains, chest tubes, and various lines.
• Maintain adherence to isolation precautions and safety protocols.
• Monitor patient vitals and respond to changes in patient conditions.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for comprehensive patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an inpatient Med/Surg setting.
• Oncology certification (ONS/ONCC) is required for this role.
• Chemotherapy administration experience is necessary.
• BLS certification is required.
• Experience with colostomy care, accessing ports, and blood product administration.

Schedule

The position requires night shifts working 3 consecutive 12-hour shifts (18:45 - 07:15) with every other weekend required. Call responsibilities may be included if scheduled shifts are canceled.
