Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality care by following the nursing care plan. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants while ensuring patient and employee safety.
Responsibilities
- Conduct a nursing assessment on all patients within 8 hours of admission to establish an individualized plan of care.
- Identify teaching needs related to each patient's diagnosis and collaborate with patients, families, and the Interdisciplinary team.
- Provide timely patient information for team conferences and document all assessments and interventions accurately.
- Participate in the patient rehabilitation program, focusing on education to achieve patient goals.
- Initiate discharge planning upon admission and provide patient teaching in anticipation of the discharge date.
- Communicate pertinent information regarding changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care.
- Supervise and train ancillary nursing personnel, making effective use of problem-solving techniques and delegation.
- Ensure personal and environmental safety in accordance with hospital policies.
- Contribute positively to unit functioning by providing direction and reassurance to staff, patients, and families.
- Maintain communication with management regarding service needs and effectively utilize resources.
- Assume charge responsibility as requested and prioritize activities to meet patient needs effectively.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS Certification required prior to first shift (CIRH Only).
- Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience strongly desired.
Schedule
This position requires a night shift schedule of 3x12.0 hours.
