Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN will supervise Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees while embracing the core values of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission and develop individualized care plans.
• Identify teaching needs and goals related to each patient’s diagnosis in collaboration with the patient/family and interdisciplinary team.
• Provide timely patient information for initial and weekly team conferences.
• Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly in the medical record.
• Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and provide direct patient care using the nursing process.
• Initiate discharge planning and patient education from the day of admission.
• Ensure effective communication of changes in patient status among care providers.
• Supervise and train ancillary nursing personnel, delegating tasks as appropriate.
• Contribute to a safe work environment by proactively identifying hazards and adhering to safety policies.
• Assume charge responsibility as requested after the orientation period.
• Pursue professional growth through continuing education and self-study.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS Certification required prior to the first shift.
• ACLS Certification required prior to the first shift.
• Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience required.
• Proficient in administering critical drips and managing ventilators.
• Experience in wound care and handling complex wounds is required.
• ICU experience is required.
• Previous experience at Select Medical is highly desired.
