Registered Nurse - Stepdown/MedSurg

Schedule

12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM; every other weekend and holidays as scheduled.

Job Description

This role involves providing care in a flex unit that accommodates both medical-surgical (floor) and stepdown patients, adapting to patient and hospital needs. The nurse is expected to manage a diverse population primarily with medical diagnoses while ensuring high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Maintain nurse-patient ratios of 6:1 for floor patients and 3:1 for stepdown patients.
• Administer medications and titrate drips according to written orders.
• Utilize the EPIC charting system for accurate patient documentation.
• Coordinate with Clinical Associates to ensure optimal patient care with a 1:10 CA to RN ratio.
• Monitor patients using Phillips telemetry equipment, with central surveillance available.
• Participate in unit orientation and training as needed.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current RN license required.
• BLS certification (AHA).
• Experience with EPIC charting system is a must.
• Ability to handle both med-surg and stepdown patient loads.
