Job Description

The Registered Nurse on Maternal Child Health is responsible for the provision of direct patient care in the Maternal Child Health department. This role includes collaborating with unit leadership to follow the scope of practice for nursing as set by relevant governing bodies. Responsibilities encompass the observation, data collection, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patients' physical, psychological, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs.

The RN will assess patients and families with needs ranging from uncomplicated to highly complex, accurately identifying normal and abnormal parameters in physical, emotional, developmental, and behavioral status. A person-centered care approach will guide the development of care plans and the prioritization of nursing care to effectively meet patient and family needs.

Critical thinking skills are essential for making appropriate clinical decisions and proactively addressing potential problems to ensure efficient patient care. The RN will demonstrate technical competence in required skills and remain current with policies and procedures. Collaboration with the health care team is vital to facilitate links between patients, families, and other services as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the Maternal Child Health department.
• Collaborate with unit leadership to adhere to nursing scope of practice.
• Assess and plan for patient care, considering both uncomplicated and complex needs.
• Utilize a person-centered care approach in care plan development.
• Demonstrate competence in technical nursing skills and clinical decision-making.
• Act as a resource to peers and facilitate inter-disciplinary collaboration.

Required Experience

• Labor and Delivery experience required.
• Postpartum experience preferred.

Certifications/Licensure

• Current Registered Nurse license required.
• Relevant certifications as per unit needs are preferred.
