Job Description
The Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit provides care for adult patients with complex medical conditions, including DKA, COVID-19, acute alcohol withdrawal, NSTEMI, respiratory distress, and exacerbations of heart failure. The role requires using Pyxis for medication administration and maintaining electronic health records in EPIC.
Responsibilities
- Monitor patient vitals and manage dysrhythmias.
- Administer medications, including titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips.
- Provide care for ventilated patients and manage arterial and central lines.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare team using SBAR.
- Float to lower acuity units as necessary.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of acute care experience.
- Experience with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 3:1.
- Previous charge experience is preferred but not required.
Certifications/Licensure
- Current Michigan RN license required.
- ACLS and BCLS certifications are mandatory.
