Schedule: Straight Nights, Holidays/On-Call/Callback/Charge per unit needs. Full-time commitment of 48 hours/week.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Psych ER will conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives to gather case history. The RN will plan and provide nursing care for patients, making nursing diagnoses of the medical and emotional status of patients while recommending treatment options. Collaboration with psychiatrists and other behavioral health staff will be essential in designing appropriate treatment plans for clients.

Responsibilities

• Administer and document reactions to psychotropic drugs and other medications.
• Arrange for further medical attention when necessary.
• Assist clients in understanding emotional disturbances and accepting the need for treatment.
• Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff and patients.
• Test vital signs and ensure treatments of pain are provided.
• Document all patient information and follow physician's written orders while maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Perform administrative assignments including filing, answering phones, typing, and completing progress notes in the computer system.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.

Certifications/Licensure

• New York RN License required.
• BLS Certification (AHA) required.
