Schedule/Shift
3 12-hour shifts a week, with a shift from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Every other weekend is required.
Job Description
The PCU units at Summit Medical Center are looking for compassionate and skilled Registered Nurses. The role involves caring for patients within the 630 unit, which has 34 beds, and 633 unit, which has 25 beds. Nurses will work in a fast-paced environment with patients requiring bipap assistance, high-flow O2, and various cardiac and insulin drips. The documentation system used is Meditech.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care in the PCU setting.
- Administer medications and IV treatments according to established protocols.
- Monitor and assess patient conditions, including vital signs and lab results.
- Perform procedures such as peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, and central line dressing changes.
- Engage in hourly rounding on days and every 2-hour rounding on nights to ensure patient satisfaction and care.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families using AIDET principles.
- Support the unit through troubleshooting equipment such as wound vacs.
Required Experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certification.
- Experience with bipaps and various oxygen delivery systems.
- Background in stroke and post-cardiac cath care is essential.
- Preferred experience with peritoneal dialysis and tube feeding.
Certifications/Licensure
- Required: BLS, ACLS.
