7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, 12-hour shifts; weekend shifts are required.
Job Description
The Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit will provide care to patients in both acute and neuro stepdown environments. The unit consists of 30 beds, divided into 22 acute care and 8 stepdown beds, with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 6:1 in acute care and 4:1 in neuro stepdown. The unit is equipped with a variety of medical technologies tailored for stroke care and respiratory support, including Bipap and vapotherm devices.
Responsibilities
- Provide quality nursing care to acute and stepdown patients.
- Perform lumbar punctures and chest tube placements when needed.
- Participate in bedside shift reports and daily huddles to enhance patient connection and experience.
- Utilize Meditech for patient documentation and data management.
- Coordinate with 1-2 Techs and a unit secretary for efficient unit management.
- Float to other units as necessary post-orientation, depending on experience.
Required Experience
- Strong nursing skills in acute care settings.
- Experience in neuro stepdown is preferred but not mandatory.
- Demonstrated critical thinking abilities in high-acuity situations.
Certifications/Licensure
- BLS certification required for acute care.
- ACLS certification required for neuro stepdown.
