Generally 6:30 am to 2:30 pm, Monday to Friday, with rotating on-call for nights and weekends. May require staying late.

Job Description

The Surgical Technician functions as part of the surgical healthcare team, providing essential technical support to surgeons, Registered Nurses, and anesthesia providers in the operating room environment. Their responsibilities include arranging surgical supplies and instruments, maintaining an accurate count of these items, passing instruments to the surgeon, assisting with dressings, and preparing specimens for testing.

Responsibilities

• Utilize principles of aseptic practice in various situations.
• Inspect sterile items for contamination prior to use.
• Maintain sterility when opening sterile items for procedures.
• Anticipate the needs of supplies and equipment during surgeries.
• Check supplies for expiration dates, restock, and order supplies as necessary.
• Operate sterilizers and run tests to validate sterilization of surgical instruments.
• Ensure proper cleaning and decontamination of surgical instruments after use.
• Verify the sterility of packaged supplies.

Required Experience

Certified Surgical Technician (CST) with a minimum of 5 years of current experience in surgical settings.

Certifications/Licensure

Must be registered as a Surgical Technician with the State of Colorado.
