Job Description

The Surgical Technologist plays a vital role in the operating room by assisting during surgical procedures, maintaining a sterile environment, and providing necessary instruments to the surgical team. This position requires an understanding of human anatomy and surgical procedures, combined with a commitment to patient safety and care quality.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the integrity of the sterile surgical field and handle instruments during procedures.
• Check all surgical items for proper packaging, processing, and expiration dates.
• Monitor the sterile field and initiate corrective action under supervision as needed.
• Assist the surgical team with patient transport, room turnover, and preparation.
• Participate in effective communication with the perioperative team during Time Out processes.
• Maintain professional behavior and knowledge of new technologies and procedures.

Required Experience

• Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program.
• Licensure as a Surgical Technologist in Colorado.

Certifications/Licensure

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association.
