Schedule/Shift
3x12 hour Night Shift, 7 PM to 7 AM, with some weekend requirements. Flexibility for a 1:5 patient ratio in emergencies.
Job Description
The Registered Nurse in the Stepdown Unit will provide care to a variety of patients with acute and chronic conditions, primarily focused on cardiac care, including those recovering from cardiac surgery or interventional procedures. The unit also tends to medical-surgical patients as acuity allows. The nurse is expected to manage telemetry and assist in monitoring patient vitals and rhythms.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Monitor and interpret telemetry data, including reading and identifying dysrhythmias.
- Start and manage IVs and other lines as required.
- Care for patients requiring specialized interventions, including blood product administration and central line management.
- Participate in patient education and care planning with interdisciplinary teams.
- Utilize Cerner for documentation and patient tracking.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 1.5-2 years of registered nursing experience in a Stepdown or similar unit.
- At least 1 year of experience in Medical/Surgical and Telemetry nursing.
Certifications/Licensure
- Current RN License (WV or Compact License).
- BCLS and ACLS certifications required.
