Job Description
The Intensive Care Unit at Horizon Medical Center is a 6-bed unit that provides critical care to patients requiring close monitoring and advanced medical interventions. The unit strives to maintain a patient-centered approach, with a primary staffing model of 2:1 ratios, while accommodating some higher acuity patients with a 1:1 or 3:1 ratio as needed. The nursing staff utilizes advanced technologies such as Arctic Sun and Continuous EEG to ensure optimal patient care. Documentation is managed through Meditech.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care to critically ill patients.
- Perform advanced procedures including central line placements, arterial line placements, paracentesis, thoracentesis, and intubation.
- Collaborate with the medical team to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Monitor and assess patient conditions continually, utilizing technology such as Continuous EEG.
Required Experience
- ICU experience is a must.
- Strong critical thinking and communication skills required.
Certifications/Licensure
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Certification required.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) Certification required.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification required.
