Job Description
The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department is responsible for providing high-quality care to patients by utilizing the Nursing Process in compliance with the state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies. The nurse will demonstrate critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership to ensure safe delivery of patient care.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive patient care in the Emergency Department.
- Utilize critical thinking and scientific judgment in clinical decision-making.
- Demonstrate timely planning and anticipation for patient care delivery needs.
- Maintain clinical competencies through ongoing education and training.
- Delegate patient care priorities based on staff capabilities and experience.
- Supervise and provide direction to assigned nursing personnel.
Required Experience
- A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, including prior travel experience.
Certifications/Licensure
- Current RN license (Texas or compact).
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- NIH Stroke Scale certification.
