Job Description
The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department holds shift accountability for providing care to patients by utilizing the Nursing Process in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies and procedures. The nurse demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in the anticipation and planning for safe delivery of care. They maintain clinical competencies through continuing education and delegate patient care priorities based on the education and experience of the available staff.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care in the Emergency Department.
- Utilize the Nursing Process in accordance with state regulations and hospital policies.
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills and scientific judgment.
- Maintain clinical competencies through ongoing education.
- Delegate patient care priorities among available staff.
- Provide direction and supervision to assigned personnel delivering patient care.
Required Experience
- At least 2 years of nursing experience.
- Prior travel experience is required.
Certifications/Licensure
- Current RN license in the state of Texas.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
- TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Course) certification.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.
- NIH Stroke Scale certification.
