Night Shift: 12-hour shifts, 19:00 - 07:00, 3 days a week.
Job Description
This position is in the 5J Intermediate Care Unit at Grady Memorial Hospital, which is divided into a standard Intermediate Care area and an overflow unit. The Intermediate Care area consists of 20 beds that cater to high acuity patients requiring O2, BiPAP, tracheostomies, and ventilator support. The overflow area contains 8 open beds for lower acuity intermediate care patients, which assists in relieving pressure in the emergency room. Patients from both areas may be transitioned to medical-surgical units as beds become available. All patients may be on heparin, insulin, and cardiac drips.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to intermediate care patients with varied levels of acuity.
- Monitor patient conditions and respond to changes in their status.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including but not limited to heparin, insulin, and cardiac drips.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to deliver effective patient care.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required.
- Experience in an intermediate care setting preferred.
Certifications/Licensure
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
