Job Description

The competent Nurse in this role practices independently within an Emergency Department setting, providing routine and complex care to a diverse patient population, which includes clinic-type patients, strokes, STEMIs, Level I traumas, post-surgical complications, pregnancy complications, pediatrics, behavioral health, and all matters pertinent to the Emergency Department.

Responsibilities

• Meet expectations of applicable One CHRISTUS Competencies, whether as Leader of Self, Others, or Leaders.
• Provide nursing care in accordance with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Address the complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families based on the level of practice.
• Administer medications and treatments according to appropriate protocols; monitor for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identify issues and resources.

Required Experience

Must have at least 2 years of nursing experience with recent experience in Emergency Department Level 1, 2, or 3 Trauma cases.

Certifications/Licensure

• Current BLS certification required (AHA only)
• Current ACLS certification required (AHA only)
• Current PALS certification required (AHA only)
• Current TNCC certification required
• RN License in the state of New Mexico or compact
