Job Description
The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department is responsible for providing critical care and support to patients in a Level 3 Trauma Center. This role requires maintaining clinical competencies, utilizing the Nursing Process in alignment with state Nurse Practice Acts and hospital policies. The RN will demonstrate strong critical thinking, scientific judgment, and leadership in delivering safe and effective care. The position involves floating within the nurse's scope and experience, typically to the ICU as needed.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and communicate findings effectively.
- Administer medications and monitor for side effects.
- Prioritize patient care based on education and experience of staff.
- Provide direction and supervision to support personnel.
- Adhere to safety standards and infection control policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Required Experience
A minimum of 2 years of experience in an emergency department is required.
Certifications/Licensure
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification required.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification required.
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications preferred.
