Schedule/Shift
This position requires night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM and every other weekend. Candidates should be available for Thanksgiving and one of the other winter holidays.
Job Description
The Surgical Step Down Unit (2 East) is a high-acuity, fast-paced environment catering to patients recovering from surgical procedures. The role involves providing care to patients who require close monitoring and are transitioning from intensive care.
Responsibilities
- Care for patients post-surgery, monitoring vital signs and responding to changes in patient conditions.
- Administer medications and manage IV infusions including Heparin, Insulin, Nitro, Amiodarone, and Cardizem.
- Provide wound care and management for drains, including wound vacs, chest tubes, and other associated devices.
- Perform nursing assessments and document patient care in the electronic health record.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive patient care.
Required Experience
- Strong background in critical care or intensive care settings is preferred.
- Experience with high-acuity patient populations.
Certifications/Licensure
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
