This is a 13-week contract position.
Schedule/Shift
Rotating shifts with two 8-hour and two 12-hour days (07:00-15:30 / 07:00-19:30). One weekend per month and 36 hours of pre-scheduled on-call coverage required every six weeks.
Job Description
The registered nurse will be part of a dynamic team within a busy operating room, managing pre-operative and intra-operative care for patients in a variety of surgical procedures. The role involves circulating and scrubbing in the OR, along with floating to pre-op and PACU as needed. The nurse will be responsible for patient safety, effective communication, and adherence to infection control protocols within a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide perioperative care for patients undergoing surgical procedures.
- Maintain a sterile field and assist surgeons during operations.
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes to the surgical team.
- Administer medications and manage patient post-operative care as required.
- Adhere to safety protocols and best practices within the OR environment.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a surgical setting.
- Experience as a circulating nurse and scrubbing for various surgical procedures.
Certifications/Licensure
- Active Registered Nurse license in Maryland or compact state.
- BLS certification required; CNOR certification preferred.
