Night Shift: 7pm-7:30am (12-hour shifts)

Weekend Hours: 36 hours per week, as needed

Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Intermediate Care unit provides specialized care for patients requiring higher levels of monitoring and intervention than in a general medical-surgical unit. This nurse will work in a 12-bed unit, handling various patient conditions, including respiratory issues, medical telemetry, and post-surgical care.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered nursing care to individuals with acute or chronic medical conditions.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, responding to changes as necessary.
• Administer medications, including insulin drips for DKA protocol, and manage BIPAP and hi-flow oxygen equipment.
• Utilize telemetry systems and relevant EMR documentation (Epic) for patient management.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to deliver comprehensive care plans.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in an intermediate care or higher-level unit.
• At least one previous travel assignment at a medical-surgical level or higher is required.

Certifications/Licensure

• Current BLS certification is required.
• Valid RN license for the state of Maine.
