This is a 13-week contract position.
Schedule/Shift
12-hour shifts, with start times varying from 07:30 to 10:30. If working in Pre-op, start time can be as early as 06:00. On-call duty is required with response time within 30 minutes when called.
Job Description
The Registered Nurse in the PACU will provide post-anesthesia care for adult and pediatric patients following various major surgeries, including but not limited to general, vascular, neuro, and orthopedic surgeries. Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, pain management, and recognizing and responding to airway complications. Proficient use of electronic health records (EHR) for documentation is essential.
Responsibilities
- Monitor vital signs, level of consciousness, and pain management of patients post-anesthesia.
- Administer and titrate medications, including pain management and anesthesia reversal agents.
- Start and manage IV lines, administer fluids, and provide medication as required.
- Respond to airway complications and follow emergency protocols as needed.
- Document patient progress and interventions accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
Required Experience
- 2-3 years of experience in PACU or Critical Care (adults and pediatrics).
- Pre-operative experience.
Certifications/Licensure
- Current California RN license.
- ACLS certification.
- BLS certification.
- PALS certification.
