This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule/Shift

12-hour night shifts; self-scheduling is allowed as long as unit needs are met. Staff is required to work 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule.

Job Description

The Intermediate Care Unit is a 30-bed unit (14 private and 16 semi-private). Nurses on this unit will manage a variety of patients, including those with chest pain, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, and patients pre/post catheterization. The nurses are expected to read and interpret telemetry strips and manage IV drips such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Heparin. Respiratory equipment is managed by the respiratory therapy team. The team also has access to an IV team available 24/7 for all IV starts.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients with intermediate care acuity.
• Read and interpret telemetry strips.
• Manage and titrate various IV medications.
• Perform needed patient assessments and interventions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including hospitalists and intensivists who are in-house 24/7.

Required Experience

• Registered Nurse with experience in telemetry or intermediate care settings.

Certifications/Licensure

• Current RN license.
• ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
