Job Description
The Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) provides critical care to patients in a fast-paced environment. The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing patient care in the emergency department, ensuring lifeline support and effective management of emergency situations. RNs will work with a mixed/shared acuity of patients and must possess strong phlebotomy and IV placement competencies.
Responsibilities
- Assess and manage emergency situations for adult and pediatric patients.
- Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and administer emergency medications.
- Perform phlebotomy, start and manage IVs, and administer blood products and vasopressors.
- Ensure compliance with isolation precautions and emergency protocols.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including IV teams, rapid response teams, and social services.
- Float to other areas as needed when census warrants.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as an ER RN.
- Competency in phlebotomy and IV placement is mandatory.
Certifications / Licensure
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required.
- New York state RN license required at the time of submission.
