Respiratory Therapist - Night Shift

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, emphasizing intensive respiratory care and patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed. The therapist operates within the scope of their professional license and requires minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
• Explain the purpose and procedures of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients.
• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments, including the operation of various ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning of patients using various methods.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography according to policy.
• Review patient chest x-rays and perform pulmonary function studies as needed.
• Assist in procedures related to respiratory care, such as bronchoscopy and chest tube placement.
• Perform tracheostomy care, including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes.
• Conduct arterial punctures as per guidelines and assess ventilation efficiency.
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation following BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Maintain accurate respiratory therapy records and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
• Ensure proper documentation and billing for respiratory services.
• Facilitate preventative maintenance and repairs of respiratory equipment as needed.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Candidates must possess the necessary licensure and certifications to practice as a Respiratory Therapist. Specific requirements may vary by location.
