Emergency Department Registered Nurse

Schedule

This position includes full-time shifts, either days or nights, with a holiday rotation. Shifts are scheduled for 36 hours per week, covering 7am to 7pm or 7pm to 7am.

Assignment Duration

This is a contract position expected to run into February/March.

Job Description

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) delivers high quality, compassionate care to patients and families. The ED RN is responsible for assessing patient needs, identifying urgent or emergent care priorities, and providing direct care in collaboration with the healthcare team. This role requires proficiency in various procedures, treatments, and therapeutic interventions appropriate for managing life-threatening and routine emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify patient needs and prioritize care according to Triage Standards.
• Provide direct care and interventions based on the assessment findings and patient conditions.
• Establish rapport with patients and families, addressing their comfort and providing frequent updates.
• Document all patient interactions and assessments accurately and in a timely manner.
• Educate patients and families on care plans and ensure understanding of post-emergency care requirements.
• Adhere to infection prevention strategies and other safety protocols to ensure public safety.
• Collaborate with team members to achieve the best possible patient outcomes.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• A minimum of one year of acute hospital experience as a registered professional nurse.
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI only) are required.
• Active RN licensure in the state of practice.
