Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care through the delivery of intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, operating within the scope of their professional license and with minimal supervision. The role involves evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans while educating them about the prescribed treatments and associated equipment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment, oxygen, aerosol, and nebulizer devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning of patients via multiple methods.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography, along with routine reviews of patient's chest x-rays.
• Assist with respiratory care procedures like Bronchoscopy, Perc Trachs, and Chest Tube placements.
• Conduct arterial punctures and determine efficiency of patient ventilation.
• Collaborate with attending and pulmonary physicians to discuss therapy efficiency.
• Maintain accurate records of treatments and patient responses, ensuring appropriate documentation.
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Set-up and self-test all ventilatory equipment as required while maintaining and operating mechanical ventilation.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Relevant licensure and certifications in respiratory therapy are required, along with prior experience in a similar role.
