Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision. This role involves evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans, explaining procedures and treatments, and providing necessary education upon discharge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory and oxygen devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods.
• Monitor patients using oximetry and capnography.
• Review chest x-rays to determine further evaluation needs.
• Conduct pulmonary function studies and assist with respiratory care procedures.
• Perform tracheostomy care, including tube insertion and removal.
• Monitor and maintain mechanical ventilation on different equipment.
• Record treatment information and patient responses accurately.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals regarding patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active Respiratory Care License
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification is desirable
