This is a day shift position with a 3x12 hour schedule.

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory treatment and patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of their professional license and with minimal supervision. The role involves evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans, explaining procedures to patients, and providing necessary education upon discharge.

Responsibilities

• Administers physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment, oxygen devices, aerosol devices, and nebulizers.
• Conducts chest physiotherapy to promote secretion clearance.
• Performs patient suctioning through different methods (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal).
• Monitors oximetry and capnography in accordance with policy.
• Reviews chest x-rays and performs pulmonary function studies as necessary.
• Assists in procedures related to respiratory care, including bronchoscopy and chest tube placement.
• Maintains and monitors mechanical ventilation equipment, performing necessary setups and tests.
• Records patient treatment information, and responds to therapy efficiency with physicians.
• Participates in cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Ensures accurate respiratory therapy charging, including data entry and error correction.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must hold a valid respiratory therapist license.
• Experience in intensive care respiratory therapy preferred.
• Knowledge of ventilatory equipment and respiratory care protocols.
• BLS and ACLS certification required.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
