Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed. The role includes evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans while explaining procedures and treatments to patients, ensuring necessary education upon discharge. The therapist operates various ventilatory and oxygen devices and administers prescribed medications, ventilation, and oxygenation to patients. They perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning, monitoring, and are involved in various procedures relating to respiratory care.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and develop treatment plans.
• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using ventilatory equipment and aerosol devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography according to policy.
• Assist with respiratory-related procedures such as bronchoscopy and chest tube placement.
• Perform tracheostomy care and arterial punctures.
• Conduct routine reviews of chest x-rays and pulmonary function studies.
• Communicate effectively with attending physicians regarding therapy efficiency.
• Maintain accurate records and charge documentation.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Active Respiratory Therapist license required; BLS and ACLS certifications preferred.
